Fulda Gap 2009 Warsaw Pact Awards
In a scenario game the size and complexity of Command Decisions Fulda Gap no one player or team can be the deciding factor. Because of this, in 2008 we expanded the number of awards given to Warsaw Pact players, the objective being to recognize that it takes an army of people, working at different levels and on different objectives.
The Core Unit Teams spend months in advance of the game planning and recruiting. It is here where the groundwork for victory is laid. Without the efforts of these teams and their captains it would be impossible to field an effective fighting force. They are the glue that holds 8th Guards together.
On the other hand, victory cannot be secured by the efforts of the Core Unit Teams alone. It takes many other teams and palyers, who may not have been a part of the detailed planning, but who none the less come to the came ready and willing to execute the strategy of the command staff. It is ultimately their on field efforts that will win the day.
That said, we have further expanded the Warsaw Pact awards in 2009 in order to create more opportunities to recognize players for their efforts, win, lose, or draw. Although we really, really, want to win!
That said, the following are the awards that will be available to Warsaw Pact teams and players during Fulda Gap 2009.
Divisional MVT and MVP Awards
With the increase in cap to 1000 players during Fulda Gap 2009 it will take a bigger effort to secure a sucessful campaign. That said each division commander has been authorized to award a Most Valuable Team and Most Valuable Player within their division.
Awarding of the Division MVT's and MVP's will be determined by the Division commanders and their command teams. Core Unit Teams are not elegible for the Divisional MVT and Core Unit Commanders are not eligible for the Divisional MVP.
Division Most Valuable team (MVT)

Core Unit Most Valuable Team
Core Unit commanders and teams are the glue that holds 8th Guards Combined Arms Army together. They spend months in advance of the game recruiting, planning, and preparing for they game. Without their efforts Fulda Gap would be just another scenario game.
When a team volunteers to be a Core Unit they take on a level of responsibility greater than the average team that participates in Fulda Gap 2008, the Core Unit Most Valuable Team recognize that effort. Important considerations include:
- The pre-game preparation the Unit Commander and his team engaged in. This includes recruiting, planning, logistical preparations.
- The extent to which a team supports other teams and the Warsaw Pact as a whole towards success
- A willingness to take on the unglamorous missions that are required for victory.
- The teams overall contribution to the Warsaw Pact effort.
The 8th Guards Commanding General will select the winner of this award.
